The ‘LTD’ offers a selection of drama days suitable for key stage 1, 2 or 3 pupils. Please select from the following list or contact the ‘LTD’ to arrange a day to suit your individual needs. All the days meet the National Curriculum Speaking & Listening targets and many of days also cover other curriculum areas. They are ideal for schools working towards ‘Artsmark’ status.
In the morning the class will prepare an afternoon presentation for their family members. It will involve drama, singing and PSHE. These days are best suited to fit in with the actual calendar day, see brackets for approximate timings.
These days take a poem as a starting point and develop a piece of drama based on the children’s reactions and understanding.
The Following days are all based on poems by Allan Ahlberg
These days are based on popular children’s fiction and look at either the whole book or a suitable extract. Use them if you are using the book as a class reader or if you spot one of your own childhood favourites!
The following days are all based on books by Roald Dahl
Alternatively please contact us with details of your class favourite and we will tailor a text-based workshop to meet your requirements.
These days follow the new QCA guidelines and provide inclusion and opportunity for all members of the class to take part. Many have strong links with subject areas.
PSHE Workshops – ‘Learning Through Drama' provides a creative forum where pupils can tackle potentially sensitive & controversial issues. Using forum theatre, role-play and unique drama exercises pupils will use their imagination while empathising with others.
The following days have strong links with key areas of PSHE.
We also provide a ‘Transition' drama day for year 2 and year 6 pupils, providing a variety of strategies to help pupils cope with the practical & emotional aspects of moving on to the next key stage.
‘Learning Through Drama' bespoke workshops can be used as a creative alternative to supply teaching and P.P.A. cover. However, class teachers are more than welcome to attend workshops and get their own creative juices flowing!
